Taasi Ya Jamii Social Development is a social business founded as a result of the motivation and initiative of its founders to enhance an inclusive healthy social-economic status of underprivileged communities.
Taasi Ya Jamii comes from a Swahili word “Taasisi” meaning Institute and “Jamii” meaning Community.
TJSD believes that a well-educated, enlightened, healthy and economically empowered population is the center for the inclusive healthy, and social-economic transformation in the community. TJSD plays a pivotal role in addressing the community challenges through Investing in preventive health care, education, entrepreneurship opportunities, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), and many others to set the foundation for a Healthy, Wealthy, and Empowered Community.

This ability is a rather natural one but it is something that needs to be learned.
Strategic Partners
Besides being a direct implementing organization TJSD deliberately works with a diversity of partners who come with new skills and models to create complementarity on our work in form of consortia. These are majorly Government Ministries and Departments, NGOs both international and national. We also work with local partners as sub-grantees who take up part of the work that we are not able to perform perfectly but supplement our efforts, aiming to reach at least 50%. We develop a purpose-driven partnership strategy that helps identify the right partners aligned with our mission and vision. TJSD ensures compressive due diligence and internal capacities and systems for identifying, supporting, and managing partnership relationships. Through networks and platforms, advocacy partnerships are established to create a voice to advance the priority needs of vulnerable communities.
